The Patrick Kavanagh Award 2025

What an honour to be the recipient of The Patrick Kavanagh Award 2025. This year’s adjudicator was acclaimed poet Victoria Kennefick who described Róisín’s winning collection ‘We Fall, We Carry ‘ as “poems of sometimes devastating vulnerability, humour and considerable skill with an intelligent point-of-view that is all Leggett Bohan’s own “.  A very worthy winner.

Huge gratitude to Darren McCreesh for a weekend of community, art & celebration. Wholehearted grá to Victoria Kennefick, what a thrill to have my work chosen by a poet & human I greatly admire. It was lovely to meet Art Agnew of The Patrick Kavanagh Society and to experience unexpected acts of kindness from people I’d never met before. Thank you for the organic apple and the singsong in the car, Armagh Rhymers, and thank you to the unknown person who paid for my coffee! Poetry pals, wonderful to share ‘The Monster’s Back’ with you all! I’m sure PK would be cheering us on! For those who couldn’t join us this year, I was thinking of you. 🩶
